One Month To Go!

So with one month to go, it's time for another update!

Despite best intentions, my training has been more sporadic than I would have liked but I'm looking forward to the day and still intending to beat last year's time.

May was a good month on the bike, and according to Strava I clocked up 320km and 20 hours in the saddle. This can be mostly attributed to a week's holiday in Wales, exploring the back roads of the Llyn Peninsula at opportunity. We had a surprisingly sunny and dry weather and a lovely time with the in-laws so all in all and fantastic week!

My running regime has been a little lax, once a week if that!

But, all is not lost, I got my final month's training off to a flying start with a swim/run Aquathon last night with the Sheffield Triathlon club. 400m swim in the Hathersage Lido in record time (for me, that is!) followed by a 6km run along part of the Hilly route.

It was a good to do things back to back and practice the transition, I should be able to shave a few minutes off last year's time by improving my transition times alone!

It was a perfect evening for it, if a little warm, but great practice if the weather continues! The route ran along the river towards Grindleford, through the woods then heading back over the railway and up the track to Hathersage Booths, before descending back down the main road into Hathersage. All in all in was an enjoyable hour or so in a friendly and relaxed environment.

It's certain spurred me on into getting my running game stronger for the day. Bring it on!
