The Road To Hathersage

Hello and welcome to my blog!

Over the course of the next 3 months I will be detailing my progress towards the Hathersage Hilly Triathlon, and the trials and tribulations that come along with it.

A few weeks ago, I was delighted to receive an email telling me I had won a competition I entered online to run the Hathersage Hilly Triathlon in support of the Cathedral Archer Project.

Last week I was shown around the project by Emily, along with Adam from the Sheffield Triathlon Club at the Project. It was great to meet them both and talk about fundraising possibilities (click the button at the top of the page to donate!), it was eye-opening to get a look first hand at the important work they do.

We arrived towards the end of breakfast service, so the place was a hive of activity. We were shown around the facilities which include a medical room (for regular drop-in sessions with NHS doctors and dentists), canteen, activity room and common area. There are a range of activities on offer, for example yoga and guitar lessons, with a discount received on lunch for anybody signing up to encourage participation.

The centre is open during the day, providing very important facilities for people living on the streets such as secure storage of possessions, telephone and internet access and an address to receive post. There are also laundry and shower facilities.

More information about this amazing charity can be found here.

And so, with the motivation to raise money for such a good cause it's time to get training. Tri-hard and tri-umph!

(Apologies, hopefully that's all the 'tri' related puns out of the way...)
